Grow Force
People
The success of any project relies directly on the team of people who make sure it works. We're lucky to have some excellent people involved in this project who have helped us out in so many ways.
Andy Swarbrick
Andy is Skip at 1st Longsands Scout Group and a voluntary Warden at Waddecar. He's just celebrated 25 years of marriage to Irene (ASL at Longsands) and has one Son, Richard who is an Explorer Scout and Young Leader. Richard and Irene are also a part of the Grow Force Team.
He was born into a gardening family, his Dad, Granddad and Grandma were all keen gardeners and plants people. His Dad and Granddad were renowned at local shows for their award and prize winning sweet peas and dahlias.
In his late 20's, he worked for the Barton Grange Group where he learned all about plants, shrubs and landscaping from potting plants to growing-on and care, maintenance and presentation of the finished article to buy in garden centres. He left the BG Group and started his own business growing plants all year, bedding plants, producing patio tubs and hanging baskets. He also did garden maintenance and landscaping but gave up the business owing to ill-health in the family.
Andy now puts all his efforts into being a full-time carer and Scouting.
Andy Ingle
Andy is a Wyre Local Scout network member and has been a summer staff student and activities instructor up at Waddecar. He has just turned 23 and lives in Anchorsholme with his mum.
He has always been interested in gardening and used to help his dad and grandfather when he was younger. He has followed this interest through to do a national diploma in arboriculture at Myerscough College which included tree maintenance, caring and growing and arboreal life.
He has been interested in all things living including animals and plants for most of his life and what he doesn’t about know about it isn’t worth knowing! He is still developing his skills as a keen gardener by working on the grow force team and getting a job in a garden centre.
